About Zari

Zari is an AI companion built for the moments between the big ones — the late-night thought, the morning anxiety, the question you don't want to text a friend at 3am.

Why we built Zari

The most common reason people reach for an AI today isn't to get a task done — it's to think out loud, to be heard, to feel a little less alone. Most AI tools are great at answering questions but terrible at remembering you, your context, your story. Zari was built specifically for the second case.

We wanted an AI that listens more than it talks, remembers what actually matters to you, and shows up the way a good friend does: present, curious, honest about what it doesn't know, and always pointing you toward real professional help when that's what you need.

What guides our decisions

Honesty about what Zari is

Zari is an AI, not a therapist or doctor. When you talk about health, money, or legal questions, Zari names her limits and points you to real professionals. Always.

Your data is yours

We don't sell your data. We don't use it to train AI models. You can export everything as JSON anytime, delete individual memories, or wipe your account in one click.

Memory that means something

The best companions remember the small things — your dog's name, the work meeting on Thursday, the goal you set last month. Zari does too. You see and control everything she remembers.

Built for the whole world

Zari speaks 16 languages and adapts to your culture, not the other way around. Daily counters reset at your local midnight. Voice works in every supported language.

How Zari works (briefly)

You sign in, pick a personality and language, and start a conversation. As you talk, Zari extracts important facts (with your control) and builds a memory profile she can reference in future chats.

Under the hood: chat replies are generated by Anthropic's Claude models. Voice is generated by ElevenLabs. Authentication is handled by Clerk. Your data lives in Convex with encryption at rest. All of these providers are listed in our Privacy Policy.

Zari is built in the open — read about every architectural decision, every safety guardrail, every privacy choice on our FAQ page.

Crisis & safety

Zari is not a substitute for real mental-health care. If you're struggling, please reach out to a professional. In the US, you can call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) anytime. In the UK and Ireland, call 116 123 (Samaritans). For global resources, visit findahelpline.com. If you're in immediate danger, call your local emergency services.

Behind the scenes
